An Effective Financial Planner

Ben C. Kaufmann, as a financial planner, is and has always put the client’s interest as a priority.  He uses his personal investment experiences and continuing education to assist clients in achieving their financial goals.

Ben has used his higher education and investment success to help others achieve their financial goals.  For many decades, he has invested in the stock and bond markets, as well as owning over 120 real estate rental units throughout the United States.  During this period, he has also been involved with several private companies in various fields of business endeavors.

In 1982, he received the license of a CFP, Certified Financial Planner.  This designation is a certificate earned by an individual, who brings all the investment and professional considerations together to create a financial plan for clients.

Ben was born in Clay County, but has lived in Lexington for more than 50 years.  He attended local schools, but graduated from Kentucky Military Institute with a continuing education at Transylvania University, and received a B.A. from Eastern Kentucky University.  He furthered his education by doing graduate work at the University of Tennessee Law School, and has received advanced degrees from the American College and the College of Financial Planning.

He is required by the various professions to have many hours of continuing education each year.  As part of this, he has taught a financial planning course at Transylvania University, as well as for the professional societies that he is a member. 
In addition to being licensed as a Certified Financial Planner, he also holds licenses from the Commonwealth of Kentucky and many other states in areas of “real estate broker,” series 7, and 63 (stock broker and consultant), as well as life and health insurance licenses.  He practices what he preaches.  Ben currently has over 400 clients and works with many law and accounting firms to help the client reach their financial goals.  He is a fellow of the University of Kentucky and Midway College.  He has lectured about financial plans at the dental school and also taught financial planning at Midway.

Ben works with a staff of eight in a historical building in downtown Lexington and is a strong supporter of the community.  He is a member of Adath Israel Temple in Lexington and currently chairs its Endowment Board.  He is a past board member of Ashland, the Henry Clay Estate, and serves as a member or President of several non-profit communities.  (He also participates and supports many non-profits, including the Lexington Humane Society, YMCA, Lexington Hearing School, Salvation Army.  Finally, in private business he has either owned or sat on the boards of many business organizations, including the Bank of Hindman, STS of Richmond, KY, and Palm Lakes, a real estate development company in Lexington).
